Rahrum-Rahrum-Rahrum

Long past noon
The bulls of early dark run
Shoving aside the sun ... ...The space heater chuffs
Through infinite cycles
Rahrum-Rahrum-Rahrum…

The breath of mechanical throats
Enough to chase away
The noise outside my room
Rahrum-Rahrum-Rahrum...

Within my flesh I am suspended
Between waking and sleeping
A contemplative state of play
At the close of day
The heater's hums become
My blood's beating thrum
And the cycle of my breath
As I sit on the couch
In the dying sun
Rahrum-Rahrum-Rahrum…

I fall in-through-below
To the hum of the Earth
Upon which I cling
Plates atop melted rock
Sliding below currents of sea
And hard Midwestern dirt
Supporting me
Rahrum-Rahrum-Rahrum...

I fall in-through-below
To the glowing globe
Of fusions immeasurable
The roiling strum at the center
Of our spiralled galaxy
Rahrum-Rahrum-Rahrum...

I fall in-through-below
Rappelling down down down
The sheer face of divinity
To the interior vitality
Of God's own breath
Unto eternity
Rahrum-Rahrum-Rahrum...

So I pray
In this strange way
Under the sky's vesper ray
I pray
