Visions

Picture
I've seen many visions
I know don't exist.
I realize they're phantoms
But still they persist

I'll shout this to the world
Until I go blue
I'll swear it to the judge
Because it's true

But you were there
For me
The first time I saw you
Weren't you?

Not a fever dream
But really you

I was frying a fish
On a Patmos beach
You snuck up beside me
You started to teach

You lifted me up beyond blue skies
You let me see through your burning eyes
You tore open a curtain and exposed the lies
You showed me good never dies
Because of you
Because of you

But now I am here
Back alone on my beach
The fish is burnt black
And you're out of reach
Are you really out of reach?

So I'm left with this vision
Really just a song and a word
And a backbone of steel
As I wait on you, Lord

You lifted me up beyond blue skies
You let me see through your burning eyes
You tore open a curtain that exposed all lies
You showed me good never dies
Because of you
Because of you
Because of you
