When Mindy was about to give birth to our daughter Karyssa in the summer of 2006, I decided I wanted to keep track of some of the things I noticed about her.

More than that, I wanted to explore how Reese was teaching me about the Christian faith simply by what she was doing and being as a small child.

Those explorations became short essays called Reese Pieces, and I wrote new ones through the time Karyssa started school.

My first goal was for Karyssa as an adult to have a stack of essays to read. My hope was that the stories would help her know herself a little better and also give her a chance to see a bit of the powerful impact she’s always had on my own life and faith.

I believe God encounters us mainly through the people we share our lives with. So, I hoped sharing these essays with others would help people practice noticing the ways God reaches out to them through the people with whom they share daily life.

Now something strange has occurred. Reese has become old enough to read the Reese Pieces.

She can now thoroughly understand my thoughts about her and about faith and respond to them from her own perspective and her own faith.

So, now we have Reese’s Revenge. It is simply a Reese Piece from me followed by Karyssa’s own take on what I said about her and about the Christian faith.

Thanks for reading.

I pray that you will notice God’s work through the people in your life and that you’ll share with them about what you’re experiencing through them.
